Welcome back to another food blog from Food DUPE. I had just finished a hike, and my father came to pick me up. My father decided to take me to Beach Road Scissor Cut Curry Rice for lunch. Instead of chopping the meat with a knife, they thought it was more efficient to cut it with scissors, hence the name.
Food

I ordered chicken chop, vegetables, and scissor cut pork belly. The system is like a buffet. You choose the toppings that goes with the rice. The line was a little long, but it was worth the wait. Their special curry was smooth and silky. It looked like 2 sauces combined, all layered properly. The vegetables were very (find a better word that goes with food) as well. The beans added the needed crunch. There were also shredded carrots and a few chilies. The chicken chop was nice and tender, without any crisp on the outside. The pork belly was the best of them all! The fact it crumbles into strands in your mouth the moment you bite in, and it was not chewy.

I was still hungry, so my father took me to a hawker center nearby to eat murtabak. The stall sold many flavors of murtabak. I chose the cheese with onion and egg. Finding a seat was a little hard, but I found one eventually. It took more time for the food to cook and my father to find me. The food was still hot when it came. The bread was soft and fluffy and had a bumpy yet smooth texture. The egg and cheese were nice and soft, and the best part was that the egg was fried! I bit into the yolk and it flooded a little. The onions added a crunch. The restaurant was opened by a Malay couple in 1998 in Tekka Center, a landmark in Little India opened in 1982. Unfortunately, the husband died in 2020. He was known not just for his food, but for his hospitality. Tekka Center, where the Prata place remains a landmark in Little India.

Ambiance
The ambiance was noisy but surprisingly clean. Usually, hawker centers are messy, but Tekka Center was very neat.

Verdict
The food at both the curry rice and the prata places were amazing. The Prata was the right amount of texture and balance between the ingredients. The curry rice was smooth, especially when the rice and curry combined. The score is a perfect 5/5!
